The Gambia national women’s team will face Cameroon in a must win match for a place in the Africa Women Nations Cup.

Queen Scorpions will play hosts Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé on Friday (18 February).

The team won their first round comfortably after beating Sierra Leone 3-1 to make it to the second round tie against Cameroon.

Twenty-two teams will battle out for 11 spots in the second round qualifier this week (14-23 February).

The 11 winners of these ties will qualify for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations to take place in Morocco 2-23 July 2022.

As hosts, Morocco have qualified for the tournament automatically.

The tournament doubles as the African qualifiers for the World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. The top four teams at the AWCON will qualify for the World Cup.
