World Bank has pledged support for people affected by last week’s windstorm that killed 10 people and displaced 1500 in the country.

In a meeting with President Adama Barrow at State House, World Bank’s country director Nathan Belete said the bank will provide assistance to enable the victims to get the timely help they need.

Belete commended the Gambia Government for the “swift management” of the economy during the Covid pandemic.

He also highlighted other activities of the bank including its current engagements in the health sector to deliver Covid-19 vaccines.

He added that the bank is ready to compliment the Government’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
