Ya Kumba Jaiteh, the Nominated National Assembly member, appeared at the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with assault and obstruction.

Jaiteh was charged alongside one Yusupha Jaiteh, a family member.

According to the charge sheet Ya Kumba Jaiteh on October 6 2020 “unlawfully assaulted” one Ebrima Fadera, a narcotics officer, at Kololi. 

On the second count Ya Kumba and Yusupha Jaiteh were alleged to have obstructed narcotic officers, Lamin Manjang, Landing Tamba and Sisawo Mabally. while exercising their lawful duties.

They denied the allegations and were granted bail in the sum of D100,000 with two Gambian sureties.
