Yankuba Minteh has played down the transfer talk surrounding him, insisting that his focus remains on Brighton & Hove Albion despite Liverpool making two official bids for the Gambian winger during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool reportedly submitted offers of £50 million and £60 million for Minteh, but Brighton rejected both bids.

Speaking to GRTS’s Momodou S. Jallow in a mixed zone interview in the aftermath of The Gambia’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier 2-1 victory over Somalia, Minteh said he is focused on his current club and is not interested in discussing transfers.

“I am focused. I am in Brighton. That is the team, I am playing for. That is my team and I don’t want to talk much about transfers. What God has decided for me, I am happy with it.”

The 22-year-old is currently working his way back from injury and says he is eager to return and help Brighton.

“I am really, really eager to come back and help my team because they are doing good at the moment but if I come back, I will do my best to help them,”

Yankuba Minteh was in attendance at the Independence Stadium for The Gambia’s 2-1 victory over Somalia in the AFCON 2027 qualifier as he continues his recovery.
