Some 225 Gambian migrants detained in Libyan prisons are due home next week.

Their repatriation is being facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration and the Gambian Association in Libya.

At least some 143 stranded Gambian migrants returned today from the war-torn north African country through the support of the International Organisation for Migration office in The Gambia.

“They will receive immediate assistance, including medical and psychosocial screenings non-food items, transportation and temporary accommodation,” Italy-based Gambian migrant activist Ebrima Drammeh told Gambiana.
