In the writ of summons seen by Gambiana, Abubacarr Jawara accused Momodou Sabally of defamation and slander.

He demands that Sabally “issue an “unreserved apology” to him “to be published in widely circulating national newspapers”.

He claimed that Sabally’s alleged defamation has caused damages to his business interests.

Jawara said he was “forced to shut down his tomato processing factory, inability to secure vital raw materials with the aid of his partners whom have disconnected from him in consequence of defamatory publications made by the defendant.”

He is seeking “a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant either through his agents, cronies, associates and contacts from further defaming the plaintiff in any way or manner whatsoever.”

The businessman is also seeking interest at the rate of 15% per annum until the date of judgment.
