President Adama Barrow has welcomed a delegation from Access Bank Group, describing infrastructure development as a key pillar of his government’s agenda while expressing interest in partnering with the bank on major national projects.
During a courtesy call at the State House, Access Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Ogbonna said the bank is committed to supporting The Gambia’s development by investing in priority sectors, including energy, port expansion and other strategic infrastructure projects.

“We are here to stay, and we want to be part of the success story of the Barrow administration by advancing priority projects that directly benefit the Gambian people,” Ogbonna said, adding that the bank has the capacity to mobilise the resources needed to support the government’s development priorities.
President Barrow described the visit as a strong vote of confidence in The Gambia, attributing increasing investor interest to the country’s peace, political stability and strategic location.

Access Bank Gambia Board Chairman Dominic Mendy thanked the government for its support since the bank entered the Gambian market. He said the acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank Gambia has significantly strengthened the bank’s presence and corporate profile in the country.
The meeting ended with both sides agreeing to strengthen collaboration in infrastructure financing and institutional capacity-building to support The Gambia’s long-term development goals.
