Attorney General Abubakarr Tambadouand former president Yahya Jammeh

The former ruling APRC has lambasted the Attorney General and Justice minister, Abubakarr Tambadou, over the seizure of Jammeh’s assets.

In a press conference on Friday, the interim leader of the APRC party, Fabakary Tombong Jatta described the Attorney General’s action as “hasty, malicious, selective and ill-advice.”

Mr Jatta slammed the Attorney General and Justice Minister for his ‘continued ill-advice to the presidency’ saying that the Janneh Commission is not a court of law to determine assets forfeiture.

He however, urged his party supporters to remain resolute and said that the “APRC still remains the biggest party in the country”.

The former Gambian president Yahya Jammeh had all his assets in The Gambia seized after he was forced into exile in Equatorial Guinea in 2017, after a shock electoral defeat.

And the Barrow government instituted a Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Janneh that probed the financial dealings of former president Jammeh’s financial dealings. The Commission submitted its report to the presidency several months back.

And just recently, the Attorney General acting on the recommendations of the Commission announced the forfeiture of all of Jammeh’s assets and his cronies.
