
The Banjul New Year Cultural Festival officially kicked off with Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow presiding over the opening ceremony at the Never Again Arch in the capital city, Banjul.
The event, which attracts local and international visitors, was also attended by the Honorable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside senior government officials and key stakeholders in the country’s tourism and cultural sectors.

During the opening, the Vice President commended the organisers for promoting Gambian culture and encouraging tourism, highlighting the festival’s role in showcasing the nation’s rich traditions and heritage.
The festival features a series of cultural performances, including traditional music, dance, and art exhibitions, which are scheduled to continue until 1 January 2026.

Visitors and residents are encouraged to participate in the celebrations and experience the diverse cultural offerings.
“This festival not only brings people together but also promotes the unique culture of The Gambia to the world,” he said.

The Banjul New Year Cultural Festival remains one of the key annual events in the country’s calendar, drawing attention to the importance of culture, arts, and tourism in national development.
