Gambia and Qatar have discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the two countries.

Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, met on Thursday with The Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Sering Modou Njie, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation and opportunities to further deepen relations between Banjul and Doha, while also addressing a number of issues of mutual interest.

The engagement comes as The Gambia continues to strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships with Gulf countries, particularly in areas including investment, development cooperation, trade and tourism.

Both The Gambia and Qatar are members of the OIC, providing an additional platform for coordination on regional and international issues affecting the Muslim world.
