President Adama Barrow has declared 1 May 2022 and Eid-ul-Fitr (Korite day) as public holidays across the country.

“The Office of the President informs the public that Sunday, 1st May 2022, marks Labour Day. Also, the Muslim feast of Eid-ul-Fitr coincidently may fall on the same Sunday, 1st May or Monday, 2nd May 2022, marking the end of Ramadan, depending on the sighting of the moon.

“Therefore, His Excellency President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, is pleased to declare 2nd and 3rd May 2022 as public holidays throughout The Gambia to mark Labour Day and Eid-ul-Fitr,” State House said in a statement today (27 April).

“Official work resumes on Wednesday, 4th May 2022. The Office of the President seized this opportunity to extend best wishes to all Muslims for a peaceful and joyful Eid-ul-Fitr feast,” the release added.
