President Adama Barrow today signed the book of condolences for the late Vice President Dr Badara Joof at the State House.

Joof passed away yesterday in the Indian capital New Delhi where he was receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed illness.

“It is a real shock, and I still cannot come to terms with the passing of my Vice President and friend Badara Alieu Joof. He was a gentleman and very committed to The Gambia. He left a huge vacuum with his passing,” President Barrow said.

“My condolences to Cabinet, his family, and the entire Gambian people. He was very committed to his work and very intelligent and dedicated all his life to the nation’s service. He has impacted the lives of people in high authority.

“Badara would be remembered as a very good man who contributed to the country’s development. We were together during the five years transition because of his competence, commitment, contribution, and loyalty to the country.”
