The secretary general of Gambia Action Party (GAP) has lifted the lid on the nude video scandal involving the party’s former leader and flagbearer Lamin Bojang.

Musa Batchilly in an interview with Kerr Fatou shed light on the scandal that has damaged the reputation of the party and its former leader.

“I was with people in a car when they sent it to me. I screamed and the driver stopped the car and said ‘what happened?’ I said no there is something I thought about,” Musa Yali Batchilly told Kerr Fatou.

“I called the commander in chief and said sir do you know what is going on? He said no, I don’t know what is going on. I said check your inbox.

“The guy got shocked. I drove to him and said I have a good friend of mine in the United Kingdom who sent this to me to communicate with him for verification (because) he has high regard for me.

“He lowered his head. And I saw tears rolling and he said ‘they want to destroy me’”.

General Lamin Bojang was expelled on Tuesday from the party after a nude video involving him was leaked on social media. He accused the party of being behind the leaked video and of waging a smear campaign against him.

Mr Batchilly denied the party was involved  in leaking the video and that the party executive were shocked when the video was sent to them.

“You disappointed the entire GAP National Executive Committee as we defended you in all angles to ensure that your name is stain free but your reward is to disintegrate the party or use divide and rule tactics on us which is never possible,” the party said in the dismissal letter shared with the media.
