Supreme Islamic Council has announced that Eid ul Fitr locally known as Koriteh will be observed on Monday (2 May) after the moon was not sighted in The Gambia on Saturday night.

The council’s committee responsible for sighting of moons led by top Imam Ebrima Jarju made the announcement on state broadcaster, The Gambia Radio and Television Service.

It also comes as thousands of Gambian Muslims are girpped in a dilema as whether the country will pray on Sunday.

Gambian Muslims like their counterparts in other countries will be fasting for 30 days this year.
