Brikama Area Council has posted a strong financial performance after its revenue collections climbed to D244 million in 2025, marking a significant jump from the D155 million recorded the previous year.
The council’s chairman, Yankuba Darboe, said the near D90 million increase points to growing confidence in local governance and improved cooperation between the council and residents across the West Coast Region.
In a message shared online, Darboe praised communities for their role in boosting collections, stressing that the results would not have been possible without public trust and compliance.
According to the chairman, the improved revenue base has encouraged the council to set a more ambitious target of D300 million for 2026, as it looks to expand development projects and strengthen service delivery.
He said the additional funds would be directed towards priority areas that directly impact communities, while assuring residents that the council remains committed to accountability and prudent financial management.
Darboe further reaffirmed the council’s commitment to transparency, noting that efficient revenue mobilisation is key to sustaining decentralised development and delivering meaningful progress at the grassroots.
