Brufut Zone are the new kings of the West Coast Region after defeating defending champions Foni Zone 2-1 in a thrilling Super Cup final at the Brikama Mini Stadium on Sunday.

The Brikama Area Council sponsors the curtain-raiser and the upcoming Championship.

Super-sub Malang Conteh made an instant impact when he broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, curling home a brilliant effort to give Brufut the lead.

However, Foni responded moments later through Mamadou Jaiteh, who finished clinically to level the score.

Brufut restored their advantage early in the second half when Omar Jarju struck a sublime effort in the 53rd minute, a goal that proved to be the match-winner.

As champions, Brufut Zone walked away with D50,000, medalsand a giant trophy, while Foni Zone received D40,000 and medals as runners-up.

Brufut’s victory sets an exciting tone for the upcoming West Coast Zonal Championship, with fans already anticipating what promises to be a blockbuster season.
