Basirou Gassama, spokesman for President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party Bakau branch, has urged lawyer Ousainou Darboe and Mama Kandeh to concede defeat.

Speaking to Gambiana, Mr. Gassama said: “we should not allow politics to divide us and let all the candidates accept defeat and unite our people for the interest of the nation.”

According to him, Barrow’s victory was not a surprise to him because of the work that he has done for the country.

“The Gambian people decided to vote for him, no one is a loser because Barrow is now the president of all Gambians whether you vote for him or not we need peace in this country. We need to be calm,” Mr Gassama said.

“We are not enemies is just because we have divergent opinions and God have decided Barrow as the elected president,” he said.
