A man who sustained serious injuries following a serious collision with a truck has died.

Kemo Jadama, a native of Baddibou, died last night from his injuries.

He was the driver of a Mercedes Benz that collided with a fruit truck from Senegal between Foni Sutusinjang and Besse villages.

Eyewitnesses said the truck was overtaking another vehicle when it ploughed into the oncoming Benz trapping the driver and his passenger for two hours.

Rescuers including Foni Kansala National Assembly member Musa Amul Nyassi helped to free the trapped driver and his passenger before they were evacuated to hospital.

“It took us over two hours before we were able to take out the driver in the car because how the truck hit the car was terrible,” Mr Nyassi said.

He added: “The truck hit the Benz until the engine clipped the legs of the drivers in between his seat and the engine and we tried our level best to take out the driver from the car.

“We used all types of tools – axe – hammer to destroy the car door and take out the driver.”
