Ebou Faye, National People’s Party mayoral candidate in Banjul, has said he will stop the expansion of Gambia Ports Authority in Banjul if he is elected in office.

Mr Faye said the expansion makes no sense adding it will reduce the size of the city and put the affected residents into more trouble.

“We will discuss with ports about their decision to take some lands in Banjul. We will stop the expansion. And this is why working with government is ideal in addressing problems,” he said.

However, he also criticised the leadership of mayor Rohey Malick Lowe for not bringing enough development in Banjul to address the plights of city people.

“We want to address the garbage issue. We have seen the current council cannot address the garbage issue.

“They provided only two trucks which was bought by ports. Banjul is littered with garbage filth. And this is among our top priority to address.”

“Banjul has no regulation and a city should have a regulation to keep it develop,” he added.
