The Gambia Government says former vice president Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy will face prosecution over the killings of April 10/11 student demonstrators. . 

In a statement read out by Dawda A Jallow, minister of Justice and Attorney General stated ex-vice president Njie-Saidy and her former boss exiled former President Yahya Jammeh both will be prosecuted.

“The Government accepted ALL the recommendations by the TRRC with regards to Prosecution, notable the prosecution of ex-President Yahya Jammeh, for a myriad of crimes committed between 1994 and 2017,” he said in the statement.

“The Government accepted the recommendations for the prosecution of ex-vice president Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy for her role in the April 10 and 11 student killings. Government further accepted the recommendation to deny her amnesty,” he added.

However, according to the statement, Edward Sighateh named is omitted. But the full white paper which is more than 200 pages is expected to be shared online next week by the Ministry of Justice.
