Fatou Bom Bensouda could be The Gambia’s next vice president, Gambiana has learned.

A reliable source told Gambiana that the former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and Justice Minister of the Gambia, Fatou Bom Bensouda is likely to become the country’s next vice president.

Ms Bensouda is seen as the best candidate to replace the late vice president Dr Alieu Badara Joof who died last month in India after battling an unknown illness.

Since his death in office, there have been growing calls among Gambians for President Adama Barrow to appoint a successor to fill the vacant seat.

Ms Bensouda is currently The Gambia’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.
