A house fire last night left a family homeless in Demba Kunda village in Upper River Region.

The fire destroyed thirty bags of groundnut and other valuable materials including clothes.

An eyewitness said: “The entire building was burnt to ashes with a lot of personal belongings and other agricultural products were completely destroyed.

“Two structures building with more than 10 rooms, all the clothes were burnt to ashes and more than 30 bags of groundnuts were burnt too.”

“Educational materials of more than 20 students from primary, upper and senior secondary categories were also burnt to ashes,” the eyewitness said. 

The village residents have called for help from philanthropists, NGOs and the government to support the victims.
