Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports, has officially presented the national flag to Team Gambia ahead of the inaugural African School Games in Algeria.

Speaking at the flag presentation ceremony held today (19 July), Minister Badjie praised the government for fully funding the historic trip and encouraged the young athletes to be exemplary ambassadors for The Gambia both on and off the field.

He urged the young athletes to be exemplary ambassadors for The Gambia, both on and off the tracks and courts.

Team Gambia will compete in six disciplines: athletics, basketball 3×3, beach volleyball, judo, swimming, and wrestling.

The delegation is set to depart Banjul for Dakar on Monday, 20 July 2025, and will fly to Algeria in the early hours of Tuesday.

Organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, the African School Games will take place from 25 July to 5 August 2025.
