The Gambia government has placed a drastic measure on stunt driving in the country.

A statement signed by Ebrima G Sankareh, spokesman of the government, warned parents, vehicle owners and car rental operators to desist giving away their vehicles to teens and unlicensed drivers.

The government described stunt driving as “deadly claiming lives and obstructing traffic activities”. 

“The traffic menace is costing lives, obstructing vehicular activities and endangering the lives of motorists, pedestrians and the public.

“The police have assess vehicle drifting to be a critical public safety threat, which constitutes a violation of The Gambia Motor Traffic Act, with devastating impact on lives and properties.

“The Gambia Government warns everyone particularly parents, vehicle owners and car rental operators to desist from providing access to their vehicles to young and mostly, unlicensed and suicidal drivers,” Ebrima G Sankareh said in the statement.
