The Gambia government wants to see exiled former President Yahya Jammeh testify in person during his prosecution.

Jammeh has been adversely accused of committing gross human rights crimes ranging from ordering killings, torture and arrests during his two decades in power.

The accusations against Jammeh were revealed by scores of witnesses who testified before the government-backed Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission.

Speaking to West Coast Radio, Gambia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dawda A Jallow said: “we want to see him (Jammeh) testify in-person whether here in The Gambia or abroad”.

Jammeh has been living in exile in Equatorial Guinea since 2017 after losing the 2016 presidential polls to President Adama Barrow.
