The Gambia passport ranks 13th in Africa and 77th globally in the latest world most powerful  passport ranking.

Gambia passport is the most powerful in West Africa ahead of Burkina Faso (86th) and Senegal (87th) in the latest Henley Passport Index. 

It has moved four places from its previous ranking of 81st position last year. 

Gambians can travel visa-free to 69 destinations in the world.

Seychelles (29th), Mauritius (34th) and South Africa (62th) are the three highest rank African countries in a list still dominated by Asian countries.

Japan ranked 1st with Singapore and South Korea jointly tied on 2nd place. 

Germany and Spain are joint 3rd, with visa-free access to 190 destinations worldwide. 

The UK and the US remain in 6th and 7th places, with scores of 187 and 186, respectively.

Other west African countries are ranked as follows Ghana (80th), Sierra Leone (81st),Benin (82nd), Mauritanian (85th), Nigeria (90th).

Somalia is the lowest ranked passport in Africa (104th), while Afghanistan (109th) is at the bottom of the global index.
