The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially inaugurated its new Soma Tax Office and Staff Residence in Jarra Soma, marking a significant step in decentralising revenue services across the country.

Speaking at the event, GRA Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe said the new facility represents more than just infrastructure.

“This milestone is a testament to our collective commitment to strengthening public service delivery. The establishment of this office brings services closer to the people and fosters a culture of efficiency and accountability within revenue administration,” he said.

The Soma Tax Office is designed to enhance operational capacity, improve staff welfare, and boost revenue collection in the region.

The inclusion of a staff residence underlines the authority’s commitment to the wellbeing and motivation of its workforce, which Mr Darboe described as essential to achieving national development goals.

“The Soma Revenue House is more than a building; it is a promise to the people of this region that their government is responsive, forward-looking, and investing in their future,” he added.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Seedy K. M. Keita, praised the GRA for its foresight and noted that the project aligns with the National Development Plan spearheaded by President Adama Barrow.
