The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) has announced the immediate suspension of all open-air music and public entertainment events within the Tourism Development Area (TDA).

The directive, issued on 29 September 2026, applies to events held on beaches, including concerts, beach parties, festivals and other public entertainment activities.

According to the Board, the suspension is a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding the tourism industry and maintaining public order and the safety of tourists, residents, workers and businesses within the TDA.

Event organisers and promoters have been directed to comply with the suspension until further notice.

The GTBoard said it would continue to monitor the situation in consultation with security agencies, tourism stakeholders and local authorities.

Any decision to review or lift the suspension will be communicated through official channels, the Board said.

The GTBoard also urged all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies and other relevant authorities to maintain peace and public safety throughout the Tourism Development Area.
