The family of a Gambian man who died in Germany has pleaded for help to bring his remains back home.

Ebrima Sanneh, 21, passed away this evening after being hospitalised for a heart condition.

The family is seeking to raise €7,000 to repatriate Ebrima’s remains.

Ebrima fled his homeland Gambia at the age of 16 in order to find a better life for himself in Germany.

His back way journey to Europe way difficult and dangerous. According to family sources Ebrima could not recover from the trauma of the journey.

“He saw things that nobody wants to see in his life. What he didn’t know – he was seriously ill,” Lisa Sanneh, a relative in Germany told Gambiana.

“He fought for his asylum, but he had no chance. The next stroke of fate came one week ago, when an ambulance took him to the hospital. But his heart was so badly sick – and again he had no chance.

“He left us when he was only 21 years old.

His siblings in Gambia would now like to bury him there and have him with them.”

Lisa has set up a gofundme appeal to repatriate his body back to Gambia.
