A Gambian migrant is reported to have died in a Libyan prison.

Ebrima Drammeh, Italy-based Gambian migrant rights activist, told Gambiana exclusively that: “a Gambian man call Sarjo Tamba from Serrekunda has died on Saturday in a Libyan prison.”

Meanwhile, some 161 stranded Gambian migrants from Libya, Tunisia and Niger have been repatriated by the International Organisation for Migration on voluntary basis.

According to Drammeh, 150 were from Libya, 10 from Niger and one from Tunisia. 

“They received medical & psychosocial screenings, NFI kits and temporary accommodation to return home,” he said.
