A Senegalese court has adjourned the criminal case involving a Gambian socialite, Aisha Fatty, following the absence of his ex-fiance Abdoulie Thiam in court on Friday.

Ms Fatty has since been held in Senegal amid a prolonged legal battle. Scores of Gambians and women rights activists have condemned her detention by the Senegalese security.

Mr Thiam has accused Aisha Fatty of blackmailing and threatening to expose a nude video to the security officer in Senegal. She however denied the accusation as “false”.

When the case resumed in court on Friday 17 May 2024, Thiam’s lawyer requested for adjournment, citing his client’s inability to attend court and applied for an adjournment.
