The Gambia Telecommunications Company (GAMTEL) has warned individuals who are vandalising its fibre optic cables to desist from doing so, saying that their actions are causing huge losses for the company and other businesses. 

“Gambia Telecommunications Company Limited wihses to bring to the notice of the general public that unscrupulous person with malice and criminal intent are vandalising the company’s fibre optic cables.

“The severity of the fibre optic cables cut has caused network disruption and service interuption to the huge inconvenience of customers including mobile operator, banks and businesses, public offices and home users,” the company said.

“This has also resulted in huge maintenance cost and significant loss of productivity for the company,” it added.
