Gambia Action Party has announced it will decide the fate of its leader on Wednesday as the party said it has launched an independent investigation into the nude scandal.

The party leader Lamin Bojang is fighting for his political career and reputation after a pornographic video of him was released on social media over the weekend. But he has denied any involvement and said it was a smear campaign.

And the party had held two summits over the scandal with Mr Bojang.

Musa Batchilly, GAP’s secretary general told reporters “The verdict will come on Wednesday; we will come to the public. I am not happy, we will give 48 hours, he said let’s give him 48 hours, he is doing his investigations to prove he is innocent.”

He however said: “he is our family member; we will never leave him. He respects us, he cares for us, and he respects the Gambian people.

“As a political party, we called an emergency summit, he is in a family meeting, we respect him and we talked. We heard him, we are going to give him 48 hours.”

“The party is doing its investigation and he [Lamin Bojang] is doing his independent job to make sure he is clean,” he added.
