The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has clarified that a letter circulating on social media, reportedly from its Organising Committee and addressed to Bakary Bojang, President of the West Coast Regional Football Association (WCRFA), was leaked before any final decision was made.

The letter, which alleged disciplinary action against Mr Bojang for alleged misconduct during a recent Division 2 playoff match, was widely shared online, prompting confusion and speculation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the GFF firmly denied that any decision had been finalised.

“The GFF would like to state, unequivocally, that no such decision was reached by the Organising Committee, as the matter is still under discussion,” the statement read.

The Federation explained that the letter in question was a draft hastily prepared by the Secretary of the Organising Committee without the committee’s approval. It was inadvertently shared with a third party by a staff member, resulting in its leak.

Reassuring its stakeholders, the GFF confirmed the matter remains under review and promised that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken if necessary.

“There will be no sacred cows. The issue will be thoroughly investigated, and action will be taken against anyone found wanting,” the Federation stated.
