The Gambia government has announced more road rehabilitation work for the capital, Banjul.

The announcement was made on Thursday after the adoption of the proposal presented by the Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure at a cabinet meeting.

Under the revised road project, 17 streets in the older parts of the city and four streets in the Tobacco Road area will be rehabilitated.

The project is part of the Banjul rehabilitation project of roads, drains and sewerage systems that started in 2019.

The D1.8 billion Banjul road project was controversially awarded to Gai Construction Company Limited without tender.
