The Gambia Government has said the white paper on the TRRC report findings will be out in five months.

The TRRC report findings were made public last week after two years of investigation into gross human rights abuses during the regime of former president Yahya Jammeh.

The report named dozens of serving and former government officials including Jammeh and held them criminally liable for crimes including killing, torture and rape.

Speaking to reporters, Dawda Jallow, minister of Justice and Attorney General  said the report is yet to be discussed in cabinet.

“By the end of the six month, five months to be specific because one month is already gone, we will come up with a white paper  and it will be the one that will inform the public what is [the] position of government,” he said.

“We will inform the public in due course regarding that, we are yet to discuss the report in cabinet, we will be looking into that and the public will be duly informed.”

“We will be looking into that as to what is the position of the government on temporal measures while we wait for the actual white paper which is due in five-month time,” he added.

Mr. Jallow also reaffirmed the Barrow administration’s commitment in implementing the TRRC report to ensure justice is served to the victims.

Meanwhile, Gambians have taken to social media to call on the government to swiftly implement the TRRC report findings.
