Gambians have been taking to social media platforms to lash out at the Gambia Ports Authority management after a young man reportedly died on a ferry that got stranded in the waters for twelve hours.

Gambiana understands that the man was ill and was being transported in an ambulance from Barra to Banjul.

“Things getting worse by the minute. Loss of lives doesn’t seem to mean anything to these authorities, does it? May Allah forgive this young man and grant him Jannatul Firdaws,Ameen,” a Gambian woman said.

“Today is this young innocent soul we are commenting about but remember that tomorrow is coming and who will be next if the system don’t change?,” another said.

“Honestly this is disheartening as much as the GPA is at fault I believe our ambulance system should be change they should have equipments to support patients until they get to the hospital but just an empty vehicle without proper first Aid May God forgive the sins of the departed and grant him Janna,” yet another Gambian man said.

“Let’s stop this useless talk he died in vain that’s not fair help the family to sue them to court because this is carelessness last time I use the ferry but I was mad the way this old ferry operates,” a man said.

“GPA is the most useless parastatal company in The Gambia. I was at Barra last night and l can confirm to you that someone died during the struggle,” another said.

“These ferry services are really poor and outdated unfortunately, how could hire a manager for seven good years with scandal after scandal. God forbid changes will only happen when a major disaster hits,” another added.

The GPA and Ferry Service have been contacted for comment.
