Gambian Talents TV (GTTV) has announced it is renaming its flagship programme Semester Avenue in honour of the late Fatou Samba, the platform’s long-serving country coordinator, who passed away suddenly on 31 May 2025.
Effective immediately, the show will be known as Fatou Samba’s Semester Avenue Show, a tribute to the woman widely regarded as a cornerstone of the GTTV community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, GTTV described Fatou Samba as a visionary leader, mentor, and sister whose contribution to the platform spanned more than a decade.
“For over 13 years, Fatou helped build GTTV from the ground up alongside our Founder and Global Coordinator, Pa Ousman Joof,” the statement said. “She will be most fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, journalistic integrity, and the amplification of community voices.”
GTTV also announced that the show will now be co-hosted by Ramatoulie Gaye and Fatou Joof, both of whom were closely mentored by Samba and have worked extensively with the GTTV team.
“We are confident they will carry her legacy forward with grace, professionalism, and passion,” GTTV added.
Throughout her career, Fatou Samba was widely admired for her fearless reporting, dedication to storytelling, and her ability to inspire and uplift others. Her broadcasts often gave voice to the unheard and brought critical community issues to the forefront.
The renamed Fatou Samba’s Semester Avenue Show marks the beginning of a new chapter for GTTV, one firmly rooted in the legacy of a woman whose presence and leadership shaped a generation of community-focused media.
