Buba Jammeh, the native of Gunjur who was allegedly shot and killed in a communal clash on Saturday between residents of Gunjur and Berending, has been laid to rest.

The former fire fighter was laid to rest at his home village in Kombo South after a post-mortem examination at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul .

Jammeh’s remains arrived in Gunjur, Kombo South shortly after midday, family sources told Gambiana on Tuesday.

As a former Fire Fighter and an employee of Brikama Area Council, his former colleagues at The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services and Brikama Area Council Police handled the procession ceremony.

“May Allah forgive the shortcomings of late Buba Jammeh and place him in the highest of Jannah,”said one of his relatives.

“He is a kind hearted man and a good Muslim and he’ll forever remain in our hearts,” said a mourner.
