Hamat Bah has told supporters at President Adama Barrow’s event in Farafenni that The Gambia should never be led by a foreigner, urging voters to be careful when casting their ballots.

Speaking at the event on Saturday night, Bah warned against what he described as the possibility of a non-Gambian taking control of the country.

“This country will never be Lebanon. Nobody will take over this country. Be careful of your votes,” he said.

Bah further declared that no foreigner should run The Gambia, arguing that the country belongs to Gambians.

“No foreigner will run this country for us,” he said.

His remarks came during a political gathering in Farafenni in support of President Barrow ahead of the December 5 presidential election.

Bah did not identify a specific individual in the remarks provided, but framed his message around national ownership and the importance of voters being cautious about their choice at the ballot box.

He told the gathering that political leadership of The Gambia should remain in Gambian hands.

“This country is owned by Gambians and no foreigner will run this country for us,” he said.

The comments add another dimension to the political campaign as parties and political groupings continue to mobilise supporters ahead of the presidential election.
