The Gambia has opened its medal account at the ongoing African School Games in Algeria, with young wrestlers Muhammed Faal and Ousman Sakho both winning bronze medals for the nation.

Faal secured bronze in the competitive 65kg wrestling category after battling two Algerian opponents and a Tunisian, narrowly missing out on a place in the final.

Meanwhile, Sakho added another bronze to the tally in the 60kg division, finishing third in a tough pool of three after facing an Algerian and a Tunisian rival.
