The Gambia Ferry Service has announced that the Kanilai ferry has been temporarily withdrawn from transporting people and goods service between Banjul and Barra for general maintenance.

“The management of Gambia Ferry Services (GFS) wishes to inform the public that Kanilai Ferry has been withdrawn for general maintenance.

“This particular rehabilitation is an extension of the major ferry refurbishment exercise that began some months ago. While we hope to redeploy Kanilai soon, Kunta Kinta and Johe’ Ferries are currently plying the Banjul-Barra route with our schedule unchanged,” The Gambia Ferry Service said.

“Improving the suitability and productivity of our fleet of ferries across the country remains a topmost priority for the GFS management. We once again reassure the public of our resolve to improve our service delivery across the country,” it added.
