Former minister of Agriculture Lamin Ndambu Dibba has dies at the age of 70.

Dibba was an executive member of the United Democratic Party and a longtime ally of the party’s leader Ousainou Darboe.

Mr Darboe announced the death on a Facebook post this afternoon. 

“It is with deep sorrow and regret that I announce the death of Hon. Lamin Ndambu Dibba of the United Democratic Party. Hon. Dibba gallantly fought for the country and his leadership will be missed by the Party. 

“He was the Senior Administrative Secretary of the party. I extend my condolences and that of my family and by extension the United Democratic Party to his family. Funeral Arrangements will be announced later. May his soul rest in peace.”

Dibba, a businessman and politician, was a formidable political leader and opponent of ex-president Jammeh. He was jailed along with the executive of the UDP in 2016 for staging a protest after the death in custody of Solo Sandeng, social  secretary of the party. He was released after the defeat of Jammeh in December 2016. 

He served as Minister of Agriculture in Adama Barrow’s cabinet from July 9, 2017 to March 15, 2019.

He was dismissed by Barrow in a cabinet reshuffle on March 15, 2019 along with Vice President Ousainou Darboe and Finance minister Amadou Sanneh. 

Dibba is a native of Salikenne in Baddibu.
