Muhammed Kanteh, National Assembly member, has described as bias of the selection committee for him to be answerable to deputy speaker Seedy SK Njie who has no security background  at the parliament standing committee on defence and security.

According to the former police officer, he has a good background in security with a masters degree in law.

“Yes, we would have said there are methodologies in terms of selecting members. One of those methodologies is by looking at the background information of that individual [referring to Seedy Njie], it would be not fair enough for someone with a security background, with a masters and with LLB to be answerable to someone who does not have a security background,” Kanteh told the National Assembly.

“We can work with him provided that there is no sense of bias that has been played within the selection process.

“But at this point in time, I would advise the selection committee to go and adhere to principle and the grounds that they have laid down as a way of selecting the process,” he added.

“So, I must acknowledge the process that has been taken by the members of the selection committee and they have taken their time to come up with this far and give us names. But notwithstanding, they need to do it properly and do it better,” he continued.
