Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party, has said he has no intention of resigning as leader and secretary general until 2026.

Darboe’s comments come amid rumours of leadership crisis within the party, as some opt for a young person to lead the party.

Speaking at his party bureau in Manjai Kunda as they welcomed some old members of the party, he said: “Finally, just to let you know that I am still the party leader and secretary general of United Democratic Party from here up to congress 2026 and I do not intend to resign as secretary general of United Democratic Party. I intend to continue as secretary general of the United Democratic Party until 2026.”
