Senegalese President Macky Sall has told a presidential council meeting in Banjul on Tuesday that his country has no interest in the Gambia except to strengthen bilateral relationship in the interest of peace and stability for the neighbouring countries.

The meeting is a forum for leaders in The Gambia to discuss their plans and strategies for strengthening the country’s economy, security and social development.

The meeting also focused on The Gambia’s national development priorities, regional and international cooperation, and other topics of mutual interest.

“I’ve said this that Senegal has not come to The Gambia for anything other than peace and strengthening of our relationship. We have no other interest than working for peace and stability and how to develop Africa.

“And Gambia is not doing anything in Senegal other than strengthening our relationship. Therefore, those two people should go together. Friends will have misunderstandings, that’s nature, but when such misunderstanding happens, those authorities in charge like the ministries shouldn’t even wait for the presidents to address it through dialogue,” he said.
