Mai Ahmad Fatty, leader of Gambia Moral Congress, has called for real reforms to address the country’s economic problems and challenges.

“The Gambia’s rising peaceful democratic credential in West Africa, is poised to take over from Ghana. The Gambia is firmly but quietly asserting a respectable sovereign status in Africa.

“While democracy provides the basis for opportunity and innovation, The Gambia must now seek to establish a just economic order that would significantly slash poverty and its incidents, invest more in quality education, affordable healthcare, agriculture, services and job growth, at the same time focusing on nurturing, empowering and building the resilience of Gambian private sector,” Mr Fatty said.

“These can be achieved along with the ongoing expansion of the road’s infrastructure, which remain a critical enabler for multiple indices,” he added.

“At the public sector sphere, we need to focus more on real reforms, enable the application of premium private sector inspired service delivery principles, with accountability at the core of governance.

“On matters of national development, progressive ideas ought to be welcomed. All for The Gambia, and The Gambia for all. God Bless our Republic!” he said.
