Mauritanian community in The Gambia has made a donation of D500,000 to victims of the Basse market fire.  Last week’s fire in Basse Market destroyed at least 300 stalls including thousands of dalasi worth of goods and merchandises.

The Mauritania community donation comes a week after several high profile donations to the fire victims by President Adama Barrow and leading opposition leaders Ousainou Darboe and Mama Kandeh of the United Democratic Party, and Gambia Democratic Party respectively. 

It also comes after President Barrow’s call for support to the victims

And the president of National Union of Mauritanian Employers in The Gambia, Mohamed Zeine Abidine, handed the cheque to President Barrow at State House on Monday on behalf the community.
