Mile Two alleged “chief torturer” Ebrima Jammeh has been accused of leading a team of prison warders to torture prison inmates.

Abdou Anabi Jammeh, also a prison warder, told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) on Wednesday Ebrima Jammeh was the mastermind behind the torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners.

“Everything was started by Ebrima Jammeh then Sanna Kujabi would join him.”

He said a prison inmate, Omar Jammeh and seven others were “mercilessly” beaten up by a team led by Ebrima Jammeh.

The prison warder said each of the inmates were given nearly 50 strokes.

“They were beaten mercilessly before being interrogated and Omar was beaten about four times in my presence.”

He added: “They would beat him (Omar)  for some time, then bring him down and then beat him again for some time and bring him down.

“In all the beating he (Ebrima Jammeh) would be the first person to start beating Omar. Then Lamin Jah was made to lay on the table, then Ebrima Jammeh will start the beating then his subordinates would follow. Yes, the other (inmates) were also beaten led by Ebrima Jammeh.”

He described Ebrima Jammeh as “a bad person”.

The TRRC hearing continues.
