The Ministry of Health has urged the public not to use medicines from Indian firm Maiden Pharmaceuticals.

The ministry today published a list of medicines including tablets, capsules, injections, syrups, drops and ointments from the Indian firm that the public should not be using.

Some of the medicines on the list are Ranitidine, Nifmad, Hyosmaid, Madeid, Carbimazole, Greentec, Macolcaps, Captoden 25, Fungmaid, Vitamin B-Complex

The ministry’s advice comes after the  recent deaths of 70 children in The Gambia linked to contaminated cough syrups from Maiden Pharmaceuticals.

It also called on pharmacies with stocks of the banned medicines from Maiden Pharmaceuticals to surrender them to the nearest health facility, Gambia Red Cross branch or call 1025.
